Meet Dana
If you’re drawn to art that is both bold and elegant, you’ll find that here.
My larger-than-life floral oil paintings explore the balance between opposing forces: light and dark, softness and strength, beauty and imperfection. Each piece is created through layered processes that are both intentional and spontaneous, reflecting a visual and emotional complexity that unfolds over time.
Flowers are part of life’s most significant moments, both joyful and sorrowful. I don’t paint them for their botanical accuracy. I paint them for what they carry- movement, presence, and a quiet intensity. Their forms allow me to build depth, guide the viewer’s eye, and create a calm yet powerful presence within each painting.
Inspired by the landscapes of Hawaii and Washington State, I work with organic forms, layered mark-making, and thoughtful composition. The result is work with depth, movement, and presence, created to transform the spaces it inhabits.
With over two decades as an art educator, I’ve guided thousands of students on their creative journeys while continuing to refine my own.
My paintings have been exhibited in galleries and museums across Hawaii and the mainland United States, and continue to find homes with collectors who are drawn to bold compositions balanced by calm elegance.
